Diversity Statement
As a Latina who originated from Puerto Rico and relocated to the United States 15 years ago, I am acutely aware of the obstacles that traditionally marginalized communities face within academic environments. Given this, I am committed to fostering an inclusive learning atmosphere where every underrepresented student feels acknowledged, supported, and valued.

As an educator, I aim to lead by example and actively promote cultural humility in each class and training session I facilitate. As a professor of social work, I believe it is of utmost importance to integrate, teach, and reinforce anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion (ADEI) initiatives as an integral part of the curriculum.

I aspire to create a classroom that embodies empathy, accessibility, intersectionality recognition, accountability, transparency, and awareness of bias and privileges. I feel an unwavering sense of duty to provide a space where all students can thrive and succeed, regardless of their background or identity.
